If you have a product be it a real and physical product or an online information product,having online partners to help you sell products is basically what Affiliate marketing is. An affiliate program puts a reward which is normally a commission structure in place to reward people for spreading the word about the companies product and or services.

The popularity of affiliate marketing as a method for selling products grows almost daily,as a way of moving products particularly on the internet affiliate marketing has gained a reputation for breaking sales volume records because of the almost viral effect that a group of like minded people pushing a product can have.Based on the rate of new affiliates entering the affiliate marketing business there is no question that affiliate marketing is not only here to stay but that it will continue to grow in popularity as a method to market products.

If you have a product to market the best part about affiliate marketing is that it will save you money on advertising costs as well as create a situation where you only have to pay your affiliates if they sell something for you.

So other then offering a product to the marketplace that is of value you really have no other costs at all, and although you might wish to run an advertising campaign yourself to support your product if it is a quality offering the affiliates can sell they will run their own campaigns and drive your result for you.

When the only way for affiliates to make income is performance based it means they will spread the word about your product and these days with the advent of all the social networking websites,if you have a quality offer on the table word will spread extremely quickly and sales will follow.

If Affiliate Marketing was as easy as just putting someone's affiliate link on your website everybody would be doing it,but as it's popularity has increased the advanced methodoligies that affiliate marketers are using have become much more sophisticated.

Many affiliates will offer a bonus online gift or a price rebate to attract buyers and much like off line retailers this forces competition and narrows margins that can be made.It is just basic economics played out in a high speed environment and if you wish to become a successful affiliate marketer or product creator who has affiliates selling for you,I would suggest treating this business just as seriously as you would an offline business by doing the following things.

1.Plan a launch campaign

By this I mean set a budget for your advertising if you are the affiliate or the promoter, because either way you do have a message to send and you either need to get the message to your prospective affiliates or your potential customers.

2.Write Some content

If you are the promoter write some articles about your product and sell it's features and benefits to both your buyers and the people you would like as affiliates.

If you are the affiliate write some articles to either put on your promotional websites or to submit to the major article directories to drive traffic to the affiliate links that you are putting on your websites.

3.Play the Numbers Game

Do not be perturbed by the number of affiliate marketers trying to sell products online as there is more then enough buyers in the global market place to go around, and here is the good news just like business offline there will only ever be a small percentage of people that take affiliate marketing to a level where they evolve beyond basic interest.If you committ to a long term plan and work at learning about things such as writing good copy or sales letters,basic pay per click tactics,click through analysis and also learn to study what youir competition are doing you will eventually evolve into an affiliate marketer or promoter who is successful online.

Many Guru's swipe ideas from each other constantly but the major search engines will always reward original content so if your efforts are all original whether it be the ads you write or the articles or letters you produce you will save time in the long run.
